Our Mission
Hearing Care of Carson City was founded in 1986 by Mark Weeks. Brett Weeks, Mark’s son, joined the family practice as an audiologist and now they work together to provide the people of Carson City and the surrounding communities with solutions to all their hearing problems.
Meet Our Team
Mark S. Weeks, M.C.D.
His areas of expertise include:
- Complex hearing aid fitting
- Tinnitus management
- Communication techniques for the entire family
Mark understands that each patient he encounters has a unique situation and requires a carefully crafted hearing solution. In order to achieve these solutions, Mark continually seeks opportunities to learn more about the latest technologies and best practices in the hearing healthcare market. He believes that his job isn’t finished until the patient’s life is improved.
From an early age, Mark recognized a passion for helping people and making a difference via the medical field. He started in physical therapy but realized it wasn’t a good fit because he felt he had to hurt individuals in order to help them get better. He then explored speech therapy and audiology. Between the two, he loved the idea that he could almost instantaneously fix a problem for a patient and change their lives.
“It is incredibly rewarding to be able to make a difference,” said Mark. “I started Hearing Care of Carson City so that I would have the freedom to practice audiology the way I believed it should be practiced — we put the patient first!”
Mark is proud of being able to look at his career and knowing that he has helped thousands of individuals in his community hear better. He is also gratified to share his life’s passion with his son, Audiologist Brett Weeks, who works side-by-side with Mark.
Outside of the office, Mark enjoys skiing, camping, and rock crawling. He is president of Battle Born Cruisers of North Nevada rock crawling 4×4 club. Highly involved with the Boys Scouts of America, he is an Eagle Scout, scout master, and den leader.
Brett Weeks, Au.D.
Brett Weeks joined Hearing Care of Carson City, his family’s practice, as a licensed audiologist in 2013. He has a bachelor’s degree in speech pathology and audiology from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a doctorate in audiology from the University of Utah. Brett is Board Certified with the state of Nevada and has an ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A).
His areas of expertise include:
- Tinnitus management
- Communication strategies for the entire family
- Essential auditory processing exams
- Speech in noise testing
- Hearing testing for local school districts
Brett enjoyed a number of concepts in the medical field, though it was the physiology of audiology, working in concert with incredible advances in technology, that hooked him.
He began his career at the Salt Lake City Veteran’s Administration Hospital where he worked in the Audiology Department and helped hundreds of veterans hear better. “I thoroughly enjoyed serving those who’ve served and being able to provide them with the best technology available as a benefit they earned,” said Brett. He went on to teach the Salt Lake City VA Hospital Tinnitus Management Course for patients as well as spearhead the Aural Rehabilitation Program.
“Being able to work side-by-side with my father to help as many community members as possible is truly rewarding,” said Brett. “Hearing healthcare allows us to provide incredible life-changing outcomes. We literally see patients come alive again when they can hear all the sounds they’ve been missing. It’s not uncommon to see tears of joy and that reminds me of the differences I am blessed to make every day.”
